West Mexico Birding Tour

March 30, 2019 - April 7, 2019

Experience the abundant and diverse avifauna of this unique region. Birdwatch from the Pacific Ocean to the Sierra Madre with expert local guides.

We’ll explore the coastal environs, including offshore islands, mangroves and tropical forests, around San Pancho, Nayarit before making our way over the mountains to explore the higher elevations around Autlán de Navarro, including the Sierra de Manantlán Biosphere Reserve and Sierra La Cacoma, and Tapalpa, Jalisco, a “Pueblo Mágico.”

Along the way we’ll seek out many of the 520 possible bird species in the region, including 91 endemic and near-endemic species, such as Long-tailed Wood-Partridge, Singing Quail, Black-vented Shearwater, Military Macaw, Lilac-crowned Parrot, Mexican Parrotlet, Colima Pygmy-Owl, Eared Poorwill, Mexican Woodnymph, Bumblebee Hummingbird, Flammulated Flycatcher, Slaty, Dwarf, and Golden vireos, Chestnut-sided Shrike-Vireo, Aztec Thrush, Red-breasted Chat, Red Warbler and many, many more.
