Partner Spotlight:
The events of 2020 highlighted the critical importance of people coming together across party, sector and organization lines to solve big problems. It involves thinking outside the box, being inclusive of others, and aspiring to innovative approaches and building partnerships that help meet the needs of everyone involved.
It is for this reason that we have chosen to spotlight the many partners who have come together to deliver the Central Grasslands Roadmap—a collaborative guide to increase conservation of North America’s Central Grasslands, which span 500 million acres across Indigenous Lands, Canada, the United States and Mexico. The mix includes representatives from eight diverse sectors: Indigenous communities and Nations, province and state-level agencies, industry, private land owners/managers/producers, academia, non-governmental organizations, foundations, and federal governments of Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.
This collective effort is guided by a science-based approach that respects and honors diverse voices—including cultural strategies, Traditional Ecological Knowledge, and generations of experience of private landowners, ejidos, and Indigenous/First Nation communities. Together, this diverse array of partners are collectively sharing and leveraging best practices, research, and funding and creating collaborative opportunities that address grassland conservation needs across the Central Flyway.
