Family Christmas Bird Count at Lake Minatare

Join Bird Conservancy of the Rockies and Nebraska Game and Parks as we conduct a Family Christmas Bird Count at Lake Minatare, Nebraska on December 15 from 9am – 11am! Normally Lake Minatare is closed to the public and serves as a wildlife refuge for the winter. By participating in this event you and your family can enjoy exclusive winter access to the lake for a few hours as we learn more about the birds that call the lake home for the holidays!

gets kids involved in the celebrated tradition of annual bird counts, started by the National Audubon Society more than 100 years ago to

Come learn all about raptors with this program. We will learn what special adaptations raptors have that enable them to be a great predator! We will go for a walk along the prairie and out to the dam to look for raptors in their natural habitat. Afterwards, Nature's Educators will present some local live raptors!

Bird Banding at Front Range Birding Company

Join us for a morning of bird banding with Meredith McBurney and our expert volunteers from Bird Conservancy of the Rockies! Mist nets will be set up near the wetlands behind the Front Range Birding Company in Littleton. Each bird will be weighed, measured and documented while you watch.
