Wild Nestlings Mini Day Camp (Ages 4-5)

Our youngest campers will explore the great outdoors through nature walks, crafts, stories, games, and structured outdoor play. Mini-Camps focus on building connections to the outdoors through sensory experiences, and building friendships among campers.

Scholarships are available for all camps!

Taking Flight – Overnight Camp (Ages 12-14)

This overnight camp is the next step for budding birders and young nature enthusiasts who want to take their birding skills to the next level and also enjoy outdoor adventure, traditional camp activities and nature exploration. For 6 days and 5 nights, campers will call a rustic lodge near Rocky Mountain National Park their home. They will have the opportunity to explore the ecosystems of Colorado’s Front Range, while honing their bird identification and leadership skills, gaining independence and responsibility, and making new friends!

Scholarships are available for all camps!
Applications for scholarships can be made through our online scholarship application.

*Transportation to and from camp will be provided by Bird Conservancy this year. Please refer to the Overnight Parent Handbook for details.

** For the health and safety of campers and staff we will be following current CDC and State/local guidelines as it relates to COVID-19. Please refer to the Overnight Parent Handbook for details.

Vaccination Requirements: We require campers and staff to be FULLY immunized (using state guidelines for schools) before overnight camp begins. Campers and staff who qualify for a medical exemption must provide a physician’s note documenting the exemption and will be allowed at camp if a reasonable accommodation can be made.

Vaccines for COVID will be required.

On The Wing – Overnight Camp (Ages 15-17)

This camp is for teenagers who aspire to careers in natural resources. Based at a residential camp near Rocky Mountain National Park, campers will have the opportunity to design and conduct mini-research projects in the surrounding forests. Campers will work together to develop a hypothesis, collect scientific data, draw conclusions from their data, write technical scientific research papers and present their findings to a group of natural resource professionals. In addition, campers will take part in traditional camp activities and learn field journaling, field sketching, field guide and binocular use, bird and plant identification, and field biology, by observing and participating in studies of Bird Conservancy and National Park Service biologists. The cost of this camp includes all lodging, meals and transportation during the session.

Birding Adventure Camp – Day Camp (Ages 12-13)

Join us for a brand new Bird Camp Session! Take your birding to the next level by visiting different birding hotspot locations along the front range. Campers will go on 2 field trips away from Barr Lake to find new birds to add to their life lists.

The Big Week – Day Camp (Ages 10-11)

In The Big Week, campers will hone their observational and scientific skills in order to see as many bird species as possible. In 2021, campers saw 60 different species; can you help us top that in 2022? We will explore different habitats and seek out the birds that call them their home. All of our Day Camps strive to balance learning and fun through games, hikes, crafts, scavenger hunts, and structured outdoor play.

Living with Bald Eagles Webinar!

Are you interested in learning all about Bald Eagles? In this webinar, we will learn all about Bald Eagles, their lives and life cycles, and how those living nearby can help them flourish! We will also discuss what Colorado is doing to support these amazing creatures!

Happy Birthday to the Bird Banding Lab!

This year is the 100th anniversary of the Bird Banding Laboratory, the federal agency responsible for overseeing all bird banding efforts in the United States and Canada. Here we’ll take a look at why banding is such a powerful tool for research while highlighting a few of our projects that put banding to use. With the fall banding season rapidly approaching, its a good time to reexamine what makes a bird in the hand so valuable.
